You're it

I was just tagged by a friend, and since it's a short one... :) ...let's do it!

And the rules are...

1.) Show some cyber-love to the person who tagged you. -- I'd like to thank the Academy and, of course, SEM. This wouldn't have happened without you!

2.) Post the 5 Meme Commandments on your blog so no one cheats. -- Cheats?

3.)Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself without grossing anyone out. -- (I might gross you out, who knows? Listed below)

4.) Tag 6 random people at the end. -- Check.

5.) Let the lucky winners know by commenting on their blog. -- Will do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Six non-important things/habits/quirks about Jackson's Mom:
1) I love the taste of Robitussin.
2) Yesterday I shrunk a pair of pants that I just began to fit into.
3) I don't believe we landed on the moon in 1969.
4) I love smoking pipes and cigars, though I don't do it often.
5) I can't get enough of the smell of cow manure.
6) I vacuum everything twice - first to clean, and then to make perfect lines. (aahhhh!!!)
Tagging: Jaime C., Kerin B., J.R.P., Avril, Vanessa R., and Angel T. (if you've already been tagged and I didn't see it on your blog... so sorry.. I've been out of the loop for a bit! :)
In Protest
Jackson had been put down for a second nap today. We weren't sure if he'd really sleep, but he seemed to need it. Not long after putting him down we heard him yelling for us. "Get up! Get up!" We waited for about 20 minutes as he kept on. We cracked up when he started saying: "Mama! Daddy! Mommy! AUDRA! AUDRA!!"
SUCH a helper!
Jackson loves to help around the house. He helps out with laundry, vacuuming, dishes, sweeping and mopping. He's gotten very good at taking initiative when he sees we're about to do a particular chore. Today, I asked him to get out the broom and dustpan. When I got distracted and left the job halfway done, Jack finished the job by "sweeping" up the rest of the dirt and dumping it into the trash. Then he put the dustpan away. I was so proud of him! We gave hi-fives and pounded fists. (I didn't let him see me sweep up all the real dirt)
I know this post might sound a bit obnoxious, but just keep in mind that family reads this and I know they would be just as proud of him!! :)
Drama at the playground
I took Jackson to the mall today so he could play on the indoor playground. He loves going there, and it's a good chance for me to get a little down time while he keeps busy. I love watching all the kids interact, and it's especially interesting when there's a bully on the scene. Today was such a day, and what made it even more interesting was how the parents responded. This kid kept pushing other kids down. Sometimes the mom would yell for them to "punch him back if he punches you!" One kid after another would cry, and the parents would rush down to comfort them. Some would confront the child, another confronted the mother. The father who confronted the mother actually had to explain what the fuss was all about! Her first response was "What? Are you seeing something I'm not?" He went on to say "Yes, you see all the parents going down to their crying children?? That's because of your kid!" After a minute or two, mall security showed up. Apparently, there was yet another mother who called them. She explained what had been going on, and you could tell the security guy was like "Ok, really. What am I supposed to do here?" He was gracious about it, but a little embarrassed at the same time. He talked to the woman who had by then pulled her son out to sit down (finally!!). After she explained "that's why I pulled him out to sit!", the security dude left. Shortly after, she left as well. I'm laughing at it now, but it's very maddening when this happens. Jackson's often been the victim of such bullys (thankfully not today), and my blood boils so quickly! I've actually had to pull a kid off Jack before he got smooshed into nothing! It's sad to see kids allowed to behave this way, but when you take a look at the parents behavior... the apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree.
