Whelp! Since Nathan's not here to kill spiders for me, I now have Jackson to do it. I was feeding Hayden, and Jackson ran in to tell me there was a spider on the floor. I told him to grab my shoe and hit it as hard as he could. I came in a bit later to see if he got it, and sure enough, he did! It was actually a cricket, but I was SO proud of him!! Not to mention relieved at the thought of HIM killing spiders in the future, and not me. Yuck.
It's been amazing watching this little man grow up. He's seems to have done so by leaps and bounds since Hayden has come home. It's pure joy to watch him develop skills and become more responsible. Jackson has been setting the table recently - pretty well too! He's very good at carrying his stool around if he can't reach something. I rarely pick him up for things like the changing table or getting into his crib. He loves climbing in there himself! He also changes out of his pj's and into the clothes I set out for him (if only he were potty trained... the mornings would be set!!). He loves his brother, and has been nothing but sweet and loving to him. He did get firm one time when Hayden was crying... "Settle down, son. Settle down." he said. :) Honestly, I could go on and on at how proud we are of him, but I don't want to be an obnoxious mother. I know there's lots and lots of kids who do the exact same thing. It's just exciting to get to be a witness to this precious boy learning all sorts of ways to grow up. :)
Yesterday, Hayden weighed a whopping 6 lb 2 oz! He just keeps growing, and we're so grateful for God's protective hand on him!! :) More pics to follow...
